According to the importer, demand for lemons is good at the moment. "Partly because there is so little available, and Spanish produce has pretty much run out. At the moment, prices are between 20 and 22 Euro, depending on size. The quality of the lemons is good at the moment. When the weather is good, more lemons are consumed, so we expect demand for lemons to stay high in the coming weeks."
Van Ooijen Citrus supplies lemons to numerous destinations, across export, wholesale and retail. Asked how important Europe still is for Argentine suppliers, Tom answers: "Europe is not very important for the Argentines any more. A great deal is going directly to Russia, and the Middle East and Asia have been discovered as well, that's where the numbers are going."
Van Ooijen Citrus receives the lemons under its own brand Puma, in 15 kg telescopic and open top packaging. In a few weeks they will start with Yurumi 18 kg telescopic boxes, and La Limonera 15 kg telescopic and open top packaging.
