LEAF Chief Executive awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Society for the Environment

Caroline Drummond MBE, Chief Executive of LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) was among five new Honorary Fellows to be presented by the Society for the Environment (SocEnv) this week, during a reception at the House of Lords. Caroline received her Fellowship in recognition of the contribution she has made, through her work with LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), to encourage best practice environmental stewardship amongst farmers and deliver more sustainable food and farming.

The Society for the Environment is a leading independent, non-political umbrella organisation for environmental and sustainability professionals. Also honoured were Angela Brady, Director of Brady Mallalieu Architects Ltd; Professor Raymond Clark OBE, Chief Executive of the Society of Environmental Engineers; Polly Higgins, author, barrister and environmental lawyer and Judy Ling Wong CBE OBE, Honorary President of Black Environment Network.

The awards were presented by Tony Juniper, President of the Society for the Environment and guest of honour, Olympic medal winner, Sarah Winkless. Speaking at the reception, the Chair of the SocEnv, Ian Bowbrick said, “All of our new Honorary Fellows have shown outstanding leadership and fully deserve to be called professionals in their various spheres. Their leadership has inspired many and has brought tangible results. Their breadth of vision and their willingness to work for the good of future generations is an example to us all, and we are delighted to welcome them as Honorary Fellows.”

Commenting on the award, Caroline Drummond said, “I feel extremely honoured to be recognised by such a prestigious organisation. I am immensely proud of LEAF’s work to support farmers across the globe to farm more sustainably as well as the impact we have had in engaging the public with their food, how it is grown and what farmers do to care for the environment. I receive this award on behalf of everyone who works tirelessly at LEAF – our farmer members, trustees, staff and supporters - to help ensure our vision of a world that is farming, eating and living sustainably becomes a reality.”
