Record: IFCO rents out a billion plastic trays per year

The international logistic service provider IFCO reached an important milestone this fiscal year: for the first time, 1 billion reusable plastic trays (Reusable Plastic Containers: RPC) were rented out in a year for worldwide transport from the grower to the trader. This record is the result of over 20 years of RPC growth at IFCO and highlights the advantages traders and growers see in IFCO's solutions.

"We are happy that we can share this important milestone with our customers, partners and employees," said Wolfgang Orgeldinger, CEO of IFCO. "Our growth shows the value our RPCs offer within the supply chain of fresh products in the 31 countries in which IFCO is active." The company is active in North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia with its RPCs.

RPCs reduce the burden on the environment and the costs in the supply chain for the producers and traders around the world. Hiring a billion RPCs for fresh product instead of using cardboard boxes saves the equivalent of:

-the CO2 emissions of almost 75,000 vehicles
-the waste production of over 400,000 people
-the water use of almost 600,000 people
