Agri Dido Tunisia

Tunisia: Sales drop in Italy

It's watermelon, new potato and green almond season for Agri Didon Tunisia. "At the moment, we are selling mainly to the French and German market and prices are quite good and competitive," explain company managers.

"Farao watermelons are perfect for the French and Italian market whereas as regards potatoes, Spunta and Bellini are the main varieties, packed in either 10kg plastic crates or 1.2 ton big bags. Almonds are a more specific product, as they are demanded by the Arab community living in France as well as Gulf countries like Dubai, Saudi Arabia, etc."

"This year, our sales in Italy have dropped due to the crisis and the warm weather in Southern Italy, where crops are early. We have noted that, at times, prices in Tunisia are higher than the Italian ones, so we find it difficult to be competitive."
