Italy: Entrepreneur Gennaro Galdiero killed in shooting

Gennaro Galdiero, CEO for AOP Serena, died after being shot at a motorway exit on the A1. The Carabinieri are still conducting investigations into the incident. It would seem that the entrepreneur had lunch with his partner (the chairman of AOP Serena) and the two had a disagreement. After Galdiero left, his partner followed him and shot him. The chairman has allegedly partly confessed to the crime. Galdiero was immediately taken to the nearest hospital where the doctors tried to save his life but couldn’t.

“We would like to express our condolences to Gennaro Galdiero’s family and friends. It’s terrible how the life of such a generous and hardworking man could end so abruptly. It was an honour to have met him,” says Ambrogio de Ponti, chairman of Unaproa. “He was a Unaproa partner but, most of all, he was a friend, passionate and dedicated to his family and work. He will be missed.”

“We were shocked by the murder of Gennaro Galdiero. He was an exceptional man and we hope the police will manage to shed the light on what happened,” adds Paolo Bruni, chairman of CSO.

Cesena Fiera managers Domenico Scarpellini and Valentina Piraccini also expressed their grief: “The news of the tragic death of Gennaro Galdiero upset all those who have had the chance to meet him over the years. Often, what started as a simple business relationship became a true friendship, as is the case with Macfruit. It is very difficult to understand how such a positive life could end so tragically. He won’t be forgotten.”
