2014 Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year award winner announced
Tessa Bunney (UK/PDR of Lao) Noodle Making
Food in Action - Tessa BunneyThe title went to the Yorkshire-based photographer for her entry into the ‘Food in Action’ category which captures noodle making in Lao PDR.
The judging panel, chaired by Jay Rayner (journalist, food critic and regular on The One Show) included Yotam Ottolenghi, (chef, restaurateur), Julia Bradbury (TV presenter) and David Loftus (food photographer to Jamie Oliver), was particularly struck by the beautiful composition, the expression of utter absorption on the subject’s face and the movement of dough as it flies through the air.
The Pink Lady Food Photographer Awards is a global competition, now in its third year. Over 6,000 images were entered – double the amount of entries in 2011.
Three new categories were added to the competition this year: Politics of Food, Unearthed® Food in Film and ‘Food Sn-Apping’. The latter was dedicated to images captured on mobile phones. The pictures were entered using a downloadable app and £2 per image has been donated to the charity Action Against Hunger.
The competition opens again in June 2014 for entries into the 2015 awards.
