China: Vegetables, fruits have adequate supply causing drop in prices

Liuzhou's main local vegetables average 3.11 yuan/half kilo, down this week by 0.95%. Normally as the temperature rises gradually, vegetables prices slightly rise. Steady rainfall keeps the overall vegetables operations smooth, therefore keeping supply adequate and prices stable. (1 yuan= $0.16 USD)

Last week, the wholesale price of celery was at 1.3 yuan/half kilo, up 39.78% the week before. Mustard greens are at 0.6 yuan/half kilo, up 33.33% and green Beans are at 3.28 yuan/half kilo, up 13.88%.

Local vegetables experiencing a drop in prices were: 'phoenix' mushrooms to 1.25 yuan/half kilo, dropped 20.88%, oyster mushrooms to 1.25 yuan/half kilo, also 20.88%, leeks to 1.92 yuan/half kilo, dropped 20.66%, 'chicken' mushrooms to 1.75 yuan/half kilo, dropped 15.86%, Chinese chives to 5.5 yuan/half kilo, dropped 15.38%.

Average fruit prices in Liuzhou are at 4.39 yuan/half kilo, dropping 6.79%. Fruit demand in the market decreased after the holidays.

Some fruits still increased in price. Oranges are at 2.59 yuan/half kilo, an increase of 23.33%, mangosteen are at 17.25 yuan/half kilo, increase of 18.96%, pears are at 3.65 yuan/half kilo, up 16.61%.

Pineapples decreased to 1.43 yuan/half kilo, a drop of 10.62%, Mashui orange are at 2.99 yuan/half kilo, 8% decrease, mangoes at 3.2 yuan/half kilo, a decrease of 7.24%.
