China: First quarter fruit imports increased in Shatian Port

The Dongguan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reports that in the first quarter of this year, Shatian country port already imported 1414.95 tons of fruit, with a total worth of 1,841,600 million USD. Compared with the same period last year, it has increased by 3684% and 1610% respectively. The port is now on it’s second year.

The imported fruits are mainly fresh longan, fresh pitaya, grapefruit, fresh coconut and varieties. Most of the fruits are imported from Thailand and Vietnam.

To ensure the quality and safety of the imported fruits, the Bureau focuses on improving their quality control and inspection processes, such as installing video surveillance systems to help in the inspection. They strive to speed up customs clearances while at the same time maintain to meet quality requirements to ensure the quality of the imported fruits and prevent any possible outbreak of diseases or harmful substances.
