Ecuador has 12.5% share of German papaya market

In 2013 Ecuador exported fresh fruit (excluding bananas) with a value of around 3.3 million US dollars (2.4 million Euro) to Germany. This amount represents 2.64% of total Ecuadorian import, reports ProEcuador, the Republic of Ecuador's trade office in Germany.

According to ProEcuador the country is one of the largest providers of papaya in Germany. In the past year 845 tons of this fruit has been delivered, reaching a market share of 12.53%. On top of that, with around a 4.60% market share, Ecuador is one of the top three suppliers of pineapple. In 2013 they exported 7,005 tons of pineapple to Germany.
