First Spanish nectarines from Alfonseca arrive at Zoutewelle

Last week the first Spanish nectarines from Alfonseca arrived in Zoutewelle. The white fleshed Vio White are grown under plastic in Huelva (Spain). Alfonseca have over 150 hectares and grow many varieties of nectarines and peaches, 50 hectares of which are grown under plastic.

"We now expect regular arrivals and by the end of this week greenhouse nectarines will be in full production. In two weeks we will also be able to offer 500 gram big top nectarines," said Jack Bezemer, stonefruit specialist at Zoutewelle.

"This year the end of the Chile season closed particularly beautifully and if the weather continues until Easter I expect a decent market."

Early blooms mid January
