"First Spanish cherries tastier and higher in brix"

On April 2^nd, a day earlier than last year, Van Dijk Foods Belgium, brought in the first Spanish cherries. According to sales manager Stijn Weckx the cherries are good quality. "The ones which arrived are very good, large sized Brooks variety. Last year the weather was colder in Spain but this year was better and because of that the cherry taste is stronger and sugar levels are higher than last year."

Regular customers
He explains that in the coming days limited numbers will be available because the product is very expensive. "There are more available, but they are not coming over as the price is very high. Every year goes the same way. The main receivers at the moment are speciality retailers who have regular customers coming back every season. Sales are good, as is the weather. Trade is generally going nicely and the good weather brings a more positive vibe."

"The cherries are packaged in an attractive and unique manner. They are presented under the Glamour brand. Weather conditions in Spain at the moment are currently very good which means we can continue to deliver a high quality product daily."
