Vale da Ribeira is renowned as a large producer and responsible for 50% of Sao Paulo's production. The last few months have been difficult for the region's growers, with just 30 hectares of banana crops cultivated.
Excessive heat and lack of rainfall have caused severe damages to the production. "The annual loss could be as high as 60%, and it is certain that 30% of next year's harvest will be lost, as well," stated the grower.
