Swiss Federal Council investigates extension of free trade treaty with EU
The Swiss Federal Council has to look into the advantages and disadvantages of an extensive free trading treaty between Switzerland and the EU, reports the German website Fruchthandel.de. The Federal Council also has to show the political reachability of such a treat, the Swiss District Council says.
The Federal Council recently announced that it would be taking this task upon itself. In a written response the Federal Council recalled that there has been a free trading treaty between the EU and Switzerland since 1972. But this treaty is limited to industrial products and agrarian processed products.
The free trading treaty between Switzerland and China has now been completed. The Swiss District Council seconded it on Thursday the 20th of March.
