Fresh produce big part of Canada’s Best Managed Companies
Established in 1993, the Canada’s Best Managed Companies is a national awards program, recognizing Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in innovative ways. Applications are reviewed by an independent judging panel that evaluates how companies address various business challenges, including new technologies, globalization, brand management, leadership, leveraging and developing core competencies, designing information systems, and hiring the right talent to facilitate growth.
JEMD Farms
“It is a great honor to be receiving this prestigious award once again.” said Jim DiMenna, President and CEO of JemD Farms. “Being recognized for our ongoing expansion, team leadership and quality assurance efforts, is an achievement we will celebrate”.
Oppenheimer Group
“While we operate with a highly disciplined and well-defined strategy, our structure fosters agility,” said John Anderson, chairman, president and CEO. “We can embrace opportunities with growers and retail partners swiftly and effectively, creating turnkey programs that add value. And we have systems in place to manage logistics while delivering what the world expect from us. “
The recently announced accolades recognize Oppy’s 2013 performance. Anderson points to several highlights that set the company apart last year.
“Our new partnership with Total Produce has delivered exciting synergies,” he said. “While Oppy has always had an international focus, we have developed an even stronger global presence―particularly with growers―as part of the Total Produce family.”
Mastronardi Produce
"It is a huge accomplishment to be named one of Canada's Best Managed companies for five consecutive years," stated CEO Paul Mastronardi. "I am extremely proud and would like to extend my thanks and congratulations to each and every employee who made this possible, including those at our operations in other countries."
"My family has been passionate about growing flavourful produce for over 60 years," said Mastronardi. "It is an honour to continue to do what we love and to be recognized for it in such an extraordinary way."
2013 winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies award, along with the Gold Standard winners, re-qualified and Platinum Club members will be honored at the annual Canada’s Best Managed Companies gala in Toronto on April 1, 2014. On the same date, the symposium will address leading-edge business issues that are key to the success of today’s business leaders.
