Migros Luzern 2013: profit and sales reports

Cooperative Migros Luzern with the new shops and renovation of existing branches during 2013, have sold and earned more than in the previous year, report Swiss newspaper 'Neue Zürcher Zeitung' on their website. Total sales rose by 2.8% to 1.39 billion Swiss francs (1.14 billion Euro). Profits grew by 9.3% to 47.2 million Swiss francs (38.75 million Euro).

"2013 was a good year. Migros has achieved a record result and gained new market shares," said Felix Meyer, director of Migros Luzern, during a press conference last Tuesday at the headquarters of Migros Luzern in Dierikon. "The growth in revenue is thanks to the new and renovated supermarkets and specialist branches," added Meyer. For example, in Rothenburg LU a new electronic retailer was opened and new supermarket branches were opened in Rain and Sempach-Station.

In total, Migros Luzern invested 42.8 million Swiss francs (35.13 million Euro) in their network of branches. The total sales area increased by 3,266 square meters to 103,484 square meters.
