Hunan's first nursery products welcomed by farmers

The Hunan Province is the first to collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture, by carrying out the engineering and cultivation of seeds project by developing intensive farming and its operations.

The project started in 2011, with a total investment of nearly 10 million yuan, after more than two years of construction, research and preparation, testing. As of the 18th of March, the vegetable seedlings are officially available to the community.

With technical support provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, the project uses original imported Italian automatic seeding production lines, an intelligent greenhouse control system, a modern germination chamber, energy efficient heating systems and other advanced breeding technology. This will make the seedling nursery time shorter, along with giving higher intensification, strong immunity, and the ability to grow into a robust seedling which is of high-quality and disease-resistant.

Grower Chen Ming, from the Jinming Changsha County vegetable cooperative has already ordered 50,000 peppers, eggplant, gourd and cucumber seedlings.

"This saves time and effort breeding intensively, we can be assured of its quality especially in dealing with pest and disease control. I can take back these seedlings and plant them right away," Chen said. After buying the seedlings, a Changsha City Vegetable Research Institute technician will also provide a technical tracking service for their protection as well.
