Italy: Bigger volumes of kiwis sold

On 15th March 2014, stocks of kiwis were 1.3% lower than in 2013. "If we consider that there was 6% more produce in 2013 than in 2012, we can see how volumes sold this year were bigger than 2013," explains an operator.

Among the reasons for such a success, the operator mentions the ending of the New Zealander campaign in November 2013 and the lack of produce from Greece.

Thanks to the good quality and shelf-life of stored kiwis, sales will continue until week 21 in Europe and week 22-23 in Italy. Quotations will peak from March onwards, especially since there will be very little produce from Chile, which was affected by frosts, and from Greece. New Zealand will be back on the market around the 15th-20th May.
