seeking trade agreements between Chile and Turkey

Chile: Asoex meets with Turkish fruit producers, exporters and importers

With the goal of exchanging technical information, getting to know first-hand how the Chilean fruit production chain works, and seeking trade agreements between Chile and Turkey, a delegation of Turkish fruit and vegetable exporters, producers and importers met with representatives of Chile's Fruit Exporters Association (ASOEX).

The meeting was organised by the Turkish Embassy in Chile, ProChile, ASOEX and Antalya's Exporters Association, from Turkey. Some of the attendees included Turkey's commercial attaché in Chile, Sagri Dunbar and the marketing manager of ASOEX for Europe and Asia, Christian Carvajal.

"For us, this visit is a very positive event, as Turkey is a great fruit producer, but also a large consumer. The Turkish market produces around 15 million tonnes of fresh fruit, from which it exports 6 million. The fact that Turkey's harvest takes places during Chile's off-season should allow us to set things up in a way so that both markets can complement one another," stated Ronald Brown, president of ASOEX.

Christian Carvajal said that the visit served to showcase the quality and food safety of Chile's produce, while for its part, the Turkish delegation had the chance to meet with fresh fruit exporters and visit the Port of Valparaíso to become familiar with the country's logistics for the import and export of fresh produce.
