48,077 million Euro in revenue

Auchan's revenue up 2.4% in 2013

In 2013, the French company Auchan made a total of 48,077 million Euro in revenue; 2.4% more than in the previous campaign. At constant exchange rates, the growth in sales was of 3.4%.

Net profit has been estimated at 835 million Euro; 16.2% more than the 719 million obtained in 2012. Furthermore, the firm's EBITDA has reached 2,636 million Euro, which represents a 3.8% inter-annual growth.

The group explained that this growth is the result of a boost in its activities in Central and Eastern Europe, as the situation in the Eurozone was not as positive.

In this sense, it is worth noting that the company's revenue in the French market has fallen by around 1.1%, while the drop in Western Europe (excluding France) was of 2.8%. Nevertheless, Auchan is very happy about its performance in Asia, where the firm's revenue has increased by around 11.1%.

The company invested a total of 1,875 million Euro in 2013, of which 30.2% corresponded to the French market (566 million) and 12.9% to Western Europe. 1,115 million Euro (59.5% of the total) were devoted to hypermarkets and 265 million (14.1%) to supermarkets.

The 774 hypermarkets operated by the company in twelve different countries made 38 million Euro in revenue; 1.9% more than in 2012. Meanwhile, Auchan's 817 supermarkets (1,885 franchised) present in five countries registered 7,900 million Euro in sales (+3.4%).

Lastly, Immochan (subsidiary of Auchan) manages 362 commercial centres in about a dozen countries, and its sales volume was of 624 million Euro in 2013; 4.3% more.

The president of the group's Management Board, Vianney Mulliez, stressed that "in 2013, we have registered an organic growth for all our main forms of business (hypermarkets, supermarkets, retail, Drive format, etc.) in the 15 countries where we are present."

"We are also successfully incorporating Real hypermarkets to our brand in Russia, Ukraine and Romania," added Mulliez.
