Italy: South African grapes available between January and May

"The main dealers of South African grapes in the Bologna wholesale market have a wide variety of produce available, although none of it is certified organic," explains Roberto Piazza, director of Fedagromercati Acmo.

"There are Thomson, Sugraone and Vittoria white grapes, DBH (Den Ben Hannah) red-black grapes and Red Globe and Delight red grapes."

"Black and red grapes are sold in Bologna between €2.00-2.10/kg, whereas the white one, which is generally seedless, reaches €2.30-2.50/kg. The produce is available between mid-January to the end of May and will be followed by produce from Chile and domestic early varieties."
