European Food Transport

Bakker Logistiek buys 70% of logistic branch Univeg

Bakker Logistiek Groep in Zeewolde announces the acquisition of 70% of all transport activities of European Food Transport NV (EFT), based in Belgium. Seeing its scale size, Bakker Logistiek Groep’s acquisition of EFT (part of UNIVEG Group) enables the company to optimally serve its clients in contract logistics as well as contract transport from the Benelux. With over 75 employees and a fleet of 50 trucks, EFT is a major player in the logistics sector in Belgium.

With the acquisition of EFT, Bakker Logistiek is expanding its activities in Belgium, after the integration of the platform of S.M.I.W, a logistics company in Milmort, earlier this year. EFT and Bakker Logistiek have been partners since a long time, cooperating in the Benelux. The management of EFT and the majority of employees will join the company so the continuity of service to customers can be 100% guaranteed.

UNIVEG will continue to operate the transport services for its own operating companies (UNIVEG Belgium and Ben Fresh) as this is part of the added value the UNIVEG Group offers to its customers. UNIVEG will continue to be a major customer of EFT for international transport as well as for national distribution from Rumbeke. Only the EFT staff responsible for transport at the above mentioned UNIVEG companies will continue to work for the UNIVEG Group.
