Peru: Chinese grape export coming to an end at 38,000 tonnes

Miguel Galvez Escobar, deputy general manager of Capechi, estimated that Peruvian table grapes exports to China (mainland China and Hong Kong) this season (October 2013/March 2014) would amount to 38,400 tonnes and would generate $95.2 million dollars in revenue.

Galvez Escobar also indicated that, by the end of February, Peru had already exported 37,700 tonnes worth 92.2 million dollars to China.

Additionally, he noted that the projected export volume for this campaign was 25% higher than the previous campaign (2012/ 2013), when exports amounted to 28,800 tonnes.

Capechi's deputy general manager stated that there were high expectations for the Peruvian blueberries, citrus, quinoa and maca in the Chinese market this year.

He also stressed that they were going to perform an introductory process for pomegranates and onions, as the first shipments to that country had already been made.
