Yesterday, SENASA approved the new Plant Certification procedures for the Hass avocado (Persea americana) for export to the U.S., which will take effect starting March 12.
The directorial resolution published today supersedes the Directorial Resolution 017-2012 -AG -SENASA - DSV, published on May 20, 2012.
This procedure, introduced by SENASA's Plant Quarantine Branch, establishes all of the operational processes that need to be carried out to obtain the phytosanitary certification for this fruit.
With this, SENASA, will be on the lookout for pests and that the fruits comply with the requirements made by the importing countries.
According to the General Law of Agrarian Health, SENASA is responsible for inspecting plant products for export and giving them phytosanitary certification.
Producers and exporters are responsible for ensuring the quality of their products and for implementing a system of internal traceability.
