Sydney Markets supports OzHarvest CEO CookOff Challenge

Sydney Markets raised $25,000 and donated fresh fruit, flowers and vegetables to the annual CEO CookOff, an event that brought together celebrity chefs and CEOs to put the spotlight on food security and challenges faced by youth in crisis and Indigenous communities.

A joint initiative between OzHarvest and Qantas, this is the first time Sydney Markets has been involved in the CEO CookOff which was held on 17 February 2014 at The Carriageworks in Sydney with over 120 business leaders participating in the event.

Donations to the CEO CookOff in support of Brad Latham, CEO of Sydney Markets placed Sydney Markets in the sixth position on the leaderboard. This placed Latham among the top CEOs who had raised the most funds for the CEO CookOff.

Over $900,000 was raised at the third annual CEO CookOff in addition to 1,000 three course meals that were cooked by teams of business leaders who worked together with 36 celebrity chefs.

Participants prepared meals using menus designed by Neil Perry, Maggie Beer, Guillaume Brahimi and Peter Gilmore for homeless and disadvantaged Sydneysiders that were distributed that night. This year, the main course was a signature burger designed by each chef which was plated up by CEO participants. Also on the menu was an entrée of tomato, feta and olive pissaladière with a rocket salad by Simmone Logue and a delicious apple crumble by DessertMakers with custard from Pepe Saya for dessert.

Donations to the CEO CookOff went to OzHarvest and charities, Life Changing Experiences Foundation and Tribal Warrior Association Inc.
