BBQ Grill Mix winner of Innovation Award

Every year Fruit Logistica organises an Innovation Award. (FLIA- Fruit Logistica Innovation Award). A select group of experts choose ten innovations which have been introduced over the past year, in the fruit and vegetable sector. The ten nominees were displayed in a special exhibit at Fruit Logistica. Trade visitors were able to select their favourite innovation. On Friday the 7th of February, the winner of this award was announced at the exhibition.

The winner was the “BBQ Grill-mix from Eisberg group” Switzerland. This is a product that offers a simple and easy solution for barbecue fans. Inside the BBQ Grill-Mix, are washed, sliced and ready to grill vegetables. The packaging is made of 100% recyclable aluminium tray. The trays are sealed with a special film coating, which keeps the product vacum packed and can be removed without any trace of plastic or glue. www.eisberg.com



Second place went to “Oriental Mixed Living Salad" from Home Harvest Salad, based in the UK.
This product offers a unique combination of different varieties of exotic baby leaves, coriander, pak choi, mustard, tatsoi and watercress. www.livingsalads.co.uk



Third place went to “Vegetable Crumbs” from the Italian company Aureli. The vegetable crumbs are a gluten free breading product, without preservatives and are available in several varieties, such as carrot, purple carrot, beetroot, celery and spinach. www.aurelimario.com

The other seven nominees were:
• Compostable packaging nets from “Beechwood cellulose” in Austria. www.vpz.at
• Snacks made from dried orange slices, “Fette di sole”, from Azienda Agricola, Italy www.tenutadilagodanice.it
• “Extended shelf life packaging for broccoli”, from Brimapack B.V., the Netherlands www.brimapack.com
• Germany brought the “Folding reusable plastic containers for bananas” www.ifco.de
• Germany was also nominated for the “Uurú, original banana”. www.uuru.de
• “Fioretto” was Japans nomination. A long thin-stemmed variety of cauliflower. www.tokitaseed.co.jp
• ZTI Mechatronics, The Netherlands were nominated with their “Grape destemming machine”. www.zti.nl
