Sormabag: The innovation that counts at Fruit Logistica

The sector is full of enchanting and improbable packaging for fruit and vegetables, seeking an often self-fuelled differentiation that is then discovered to have a high impact on the unit cost and is not well received by consumers.

Fortunately, others come up with genuine innovations: solutions that solve nagging problems and inconveniences and are valuable because they are sustainable in every sense of the word.

The new Sormabag, which will be presented in Berlin at this year's Fruit Logistica, springs from this line of serious research. With its simple, pared-down design, which even looks elegant, the new packaging possesses a long list of advantages that had been on the wish list of producers and consumers, who are very knowledgeable nowadays about their purchases.

Compared to traditional packs, the Sormabag uses 50% less raw material, and only polypropylene (making it completely recyclable), in response to the real, urgent need to reduce both production costs and environmental impacts.

From a functional point of view it is a complete novelty. In spite of its lightness it is very robust. Also, it is totally transparent and the proportion of the openings in the netting, together with the slimness of the handle (which runs the full lengths of the bag without wasting material), makes every single product inside it clearly visible and ensures better respiration, prolonging their shelf life.

Ergonomics and aesthetics are Sormabag's main attractions for consumers: as well as its eye-catching, elegant simplicity, the handle is child-proof and it is quick and easy to open with just a slight pull.
