Jacques Du Preez, Hortgo

"Asia and the Far East is one of our focus areas for increased exports for the future,"

Hortgro, an association which supports South African top fruit and stone fruit growers, amongst others, will again be present at this year's Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Hong. Jacques Du Preeze will be attending for the third time, the South African fruit industry have been exhibiting since 2007.

"Asia and the Far East is one of our focus areas for increased exports for the future," explains Du Preez. "So we need to build the relationships in these regions in order to create an enabling environment for our growers and exporters to operate in on various different levels (regulatory, protocols, commercial, etc). And then also support exports with our market development campaign that we will be expanding from its initial focus areas in Europe to the Middle and Far East. So it’s about learning and gaining first-hand experience from the role players in the region and getting the process in place to establish South Africa as the preferred supplier of superior quality fruit,"

He goes on to say the Far East is a very important market for South Africa and holds great potential for increased exports.

Hortgro plays a facilitation role in maintaining markets access, gaining market access / opening up new markets and creating favourable conditions and enabling environment for South African growers and exporters to flourish in. Also proving support by promoting the whole industry amongst consumers, the trade and officials involved.

Visit Hortgro at the South Africa stand E-16.
