Sormac 10 years after a fresh start

Today, 1 May 2013 is exactly ten years since director Bert Haffmans made a fresh start with Sormac following the bankruptcy of Backus Sormac B.V. "A decade later we can refer to ourselves unhesitatingly as: Sormac, a leader in technology."

“The focus in the early years was primarily on trust and quality. These were the key words that we used every day within Sormac,” Haffmans tells us. “These were our top priority. Now, ten years on, we supply satisfied customers with our technologically excellent products.”

Trust
“We are developing very successfully, thanks mainly to our customers, agents and suppliers, who have trusted in us over the last ten years. We have an extensive delivery program, our customers are happy with us, and we have an impressive global network of competent, enthusiastic agents who support us on a day-to-day basis. From Australia to Canada and from Malaysia to Russia. Our vegetable processing machinery can be found all over the world.”

Exhibitions
“Another success factor is without doubt our participation in the many exhibitions that are organised all over the world. The Fruit Logistica exhibition in Berlin and the United Fresh in the USA, for example, contribute every year to an excellent understanding with our customers. It goes without saying that Sormac will have a prominent presence at the next United Fresh, to be held from 14 to 16 May in San Diego. These are excellent opportunities to make new contacts, build on existing contacts, and to gain a direct, personal response from our target group.”

Innovation “Expansion was an absolute necessity, so we considerably expanded our premises,” continues Bert Haffmans. “We will continue to modernise and increase the efficiency of our entire machine production process. Innovation is the key word. In order to continue to think years ahead we have opted for a Technicum: an additional technology department where we will constantly develop new production processes and machine solutions. In our new Technicum we will carry out tests, trials and demonstrations in order to meet increasingly stricter requirements set for the functioning and handling of our machinery and the materials that we use. Complexity, efficiency, sustainability and frugality go hand in hand in our Technicum and also, therefore, in our company, and our customers stand to benefit from this.”

Leader  “So I’d like to say a big thank you to our customers,” finishes Bert Haffmans. “Together we have started on a new path with a good feeling about the future. We are taking a brief look back, with satisfaction. But we prefer to look forwards to the future, where our challenges lie. We are leaders in our field and we aim to remain leaders. And the only way to do this is to keep on listening to our customers’ high requirements, which is precisely what we aim to do. Each and every day!”
