UK pavilion looks to build on 2013 success

For the first time at the recent Fruit Logistica in Berlin, UK companies joined together to create a UK Pavilion. The Commercial Horticultural Association (CHA), Potato Council and the Horticultural Development Company (HDC) collaborated in the project.

In previous years the CHA and the Potato Council have had separate stands, representing the UK horticultural companies and seed potato companies respectively. This year they were joined by HDC. .This resulted in a significant increase in UK exhibitors in comparison to last year, as well as several more being represented on the industry information stands.

The goal was to create a more co-ordinated presence for UK exhibitors, and to offer newcomers an option to participate as part of a centralised UK group pavilion, rather than feeling ‘a little lost’ among the big international stands. It also provided an information point for international visitors to find out more about UK exhibitors located elsewhere in other halls.

Grouping together means that companies can share resources and increase their presence at the fair.

Stuart Booker from CHA explained that this year was essentially laying the foundations for UK companies to participate in the years to come under the UK banner. Many companies were invited to visit the fair to see for themselves the possibilities open to them.

On the Thursday afternoon a reception was held at the pavilion. It was a popular event and according to Stuart there was lots of positive feed back from UK and international companies alike, "It was a great networking event and we are hoping we can build on this year's success."
