"Italy: "Quality makes sense only if you invest in it"
"Radicchio di Verona PGI is obtained by following a discipline that imposes rules, thus giving the consumer a product that is distinctly different in terms of quality, but that imposes a burden both economic and of paperwork, that not all companies want or are able to deal with."
"We agree - says Cristiana - with those who say that there is no awareness among farmers about the importance of obtaining (since 2008) the recognition of the PGI-Protected Geographical Indication, but this is certainly the fault of those who should provide the information needed to develop it."
"Wherever our company asks, we find interest and enthusiasm for the Radicchio di Verona PGI. Supporting this, we bring the experience of the last two years, during which we have invested in the product and received a good response from the market and retailers. It is therefore our opinion that, even in this difficult economic situation, it is increasingly important to invest in quality."
In 2012, the agricultural cooperative Geofur has increased its turnover by 16%, acquiring new markets and launching new products. Part of this increase was achieved through collaboration with FreshPlaza," said Cristiana.
Geofur awaits you at Fruit Logistica 2013 (Berlin, 6-8 February), Hall 2.2 / Stand B-10.
