Baltimore Innovations promote new onion slicer

Baltimore Innovations is adding to its portfolio of specialty packaging machinery with the launch of the automated MCT-25 Onion Slicer. It will make its European debut at the Fruit Logistica show in Berlin on the 6th February 2013.

This latest MCT-25 is the next generation of slicing systems having been designed and engineered to produce precision cut tomato and onion slices to a standard thickness.

Building on its success in supplying slicers for the tomato market, the MCT-25 Slicer has been modified and upgraded to slice onions, while retaining the ability to slice tomatoes. The machine is easy to load and is fully integrated with a Pick & Place conveyor, which allows more than one operator to load increasing productivity. The MCT 25 removes and collects the unwanted end pieces while placing the premium slices neatly in the tray.

“The MCT 25 was upgraded to slice onions in response to requests from our customers, who love the reduction in labour costs and increase in yield that they get from our machines when slicing tomatoes” said Matthew Valentine, Managing Director, Baltimore Innovations.

The MCT 25 Automated Slicer slices six tomatoes or onions per cycle, yielding seven premium slices per tomato or onion – which is 42 slices per cycle. When running at a minimum speed of over 10 cycles per minute the yield of the MCT 25 slicer is over 680 KG’s per hour.

The MCT 25 Automated Slicer integrates with Maxwell Chase Technologies “Fresh-R-Pax” super absorbent trays, resulting in a dramatic improvement in shelf life for sliced tomatoes.
