Sinclair’s Print on Demand™ wins AE50 Outstanding Innovations Award

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has named Sinclair® Print on Demand™ as a winner of the 2017 AE50 Outstanding Innovations Award. The AE50 awards program celebrates product innovation and engineering in the food and agriculture industries.
Dr. Scott Howarth, Director of R&D, was recently on hand at the annual Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference (AETC) event in Louisville, KY to accept the award on behalf of the Sinclair Systems’ product development team. “We are very pleased and humbled to be recognized by ASABE. Sinclair prides itself on innovation and serving the needs of the fruit packing industry.”

In addition to celebrating its award, Sinclair is pleased to announce that it has been granted U.S. Patent No. 9,457,587 titled Automatic Thermal Print on Demand Produce Labeler for its newest innovation, Sinclair® Print on Demand™. Combining several technologies, this invention offers advantages over current produce labeling systems by printing in real-time various label attributes such as PLUs (product look up code), GS1 DataBar barcodes, fruit varieties, etc.

Using a common label to print various label attributes enables packing operations to reduce and consolidate label inventory. Furthermore, the patented system adds flexibility to packing operations by providing quick transition when changing over from one variety to another. Sinclair Print on Demand also allows for adding more granular item level information to the fruit label by printing lot codes or dates, if desired.

Operating in over 50 countries worldwide, Sinclair Systems International manufactures food-safe labels and equipment systems for the fresh produce packing industry that comply with all relevant legislation. The unique Sinclair Tab-Lift® feature allows fruit labels to be removed quickly and easily--- and all in one piece. Working in partnership, Sinclair provides its customers globally expert service and consultative technical support.
