National Fruit Show

UK: Jazz wins Britain’s Tastiest Apple

The Jazz apple was named ‘Britain’s Tastiest Apple’ at the National Fruit Show, held in Kent last week. Jazz came out on top after independent judges munched their way through 66 individual fruits. The grower was Chandler and Dunn, one of the 20 Jazz growers in the UK.

Although this season’s UK Jazz crop has been hit with an estimated 20% reduction, down from 3000 tonnes to 2400 Tonnes, fruit quality is excellent. Jazz picking is still underway and the first UK Jazz will be available towards the end of November. In the UK, Northern Hemisphere Jazz sales have already commenced this season, 3 weeks ahead of 2011, with early imports from France. Italian Jazz will commence shortly to complement our French supply.
