US: Packaging recognizing veterans is a PMA Impact finalist

Holtzinger Fruit Company is a finalist for this year's PMA Impact award for excellence in packaging for their Veteran's Honor FridgePak.

The innovative packaging makes it easy for consumers to store apples in the refrigerator and also helps honor America's military veterans, noted Sandra Steineke, director of merchandising for Holtzinger.

“The patent pending FridgePak encourages consumers to store apples in the refrigerator, enhancing shelf life and eating experience,” she said. “We worked hard this year to bring new, innovative packaging to the Apple category. Our goal is simple: help retailers move more apples with a higher contribution.”

They also worked to help America's veterans by pledging to donate $0.20 to the Hope For The Warriors family reintegration program for every box of apples sold . The program helps wounded warriors and their families by providing them therapeutic services that promote family communication, recovery and resilience. More information about the program can be found at www.holtzingerfruit.com/veteranshonor.
