Malaysian Consumer Prices Rise In August

Malaysian consumer prices rose 1.9% year-on-year in August, the Department of Statistics Malaysia said Wednesday. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index climbed 0.2% in August. The monthly increase was mainly due to the increase in prices in restaurants and hotels.

The statistical report showed that the consumer price index moved up 2.0% for the period January-August.
