Ecuador: tribunal consults banana growers on abolition of minimum price

Tholen - Santiago Velázquez, the president of the constitutional tribunal (TC) in Ecuador, which is supposed to judge about a possible abolishment of the minimum reference price for bananas, will meet with 5 delegates of different agricultural organisations to consult and question them on the situation of the banana production in the country, to ultimately be able to decide whether or not the concerning articles in the banana law are unconstitutional or not. The fact that this meeting is still to follow, supports the argument of growers that there is nothing definite about the abolishment yet.
