Costa Rica: crocodile wounds young banana grower
Tholen - A young man aged 25 who was working on a banana plantation, had to be transported to a hospital almost fatally wounded with nine bite wounds in his chest, after a swim in a pool. Banana grower Wárner Busto Varela from Costa Rica was used to submerge himself in a pool of the river Matina, after work each day. He waded through the water when he felt something move at his feet, when he was attacked by a crocodile for five minutes long. The animal bit him in the thorax 9 times. His call for help was heard by a colleague not far away, who rescued him from the water and called in the ambulance. Varela was transported to the intensive care of the hospital in Limón unconscious. His condition stabilised after his acceptance into the hospital.
