Moldova: horticultural production reconstruction

According to the information agency www.newsmoldova.ru, the specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Republic of Moldova, together with the scientists from the Institute of Plant Industry “Porumbeni” created the program of the vegetable production sector development for the period up to 2020. As they described in the branch department, the document provides the application of contemporary industrial technologies, with the cultivation of seedlings, sowing and care technologies for agro- and horticultural crops, which will make possible to substantially increase productivity.

The restoration of irrigating systems and the processing plants for vegetables and fruit is also planned. In the opinion of the authors of program, increased yields of vegetable crops and modernization of the cultivation technologies will help Moldovian growers to decrease labor inputs. On the other side, increasing the fruit and vegetable acreage by 1,4 times and the volume of production by 2,8 times will help to create new work sites for the village population.
