Ahold Dismisses Reports Of Move Into Danish Market

Ahold has no imminent plans to enter the Danish retail market, according to company spokeswoman Caro Bamforth. Bamforth was responding to a report in the Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidene which stated Ahold was interested in buying a Danish supermarket chain. Bamforth said although Ahold has no imminent plans to enter the Danish market, the company will always look at all opportunities to improve shareholder and stakeholder value, including acquisitions, divestments, and other potential co-operative ventures.
