Pakistan to end Kinnow season in next few days
Sargodha: Recent rain has disturbed harvesting and processing and most of the pack house will close their operation by end of this month, despite good market in Russia. Frequent rains during past few days have damage most of the remaining crop and there are hardly kinnow left for exports. These small quantities will increase cost on processing and therefore export consignment is no more feasible.
Last season Pakistan finished it season in beginning of April and most of the processors focused on Iran which paid highest prices at the end of season. Fewer crops during the season and recent rains have caused early finish of season this year.
EurepGAP
Sargodha: Leading processors has signed for EurepGAP. A meeting was held on 19/feb among leading exporters and all registrations forms were filled. A strategy has been chalked out to implement Good Agriculture Practices in the region. Agri Business a branch of Government of Pakistan has supported this program by contributing 50% of service cost, remaining cost along with implementation cost would be borne by processors. “We hope that good practices in the region will help us to increase quality of crop and we are positive that EurepGAP will attract more farmers to adapt this practices for benefit of trade” says Mr. Sadruddin, leading exporter to Russia and Far East.
