Argentina ships first okitsus to Netherlands and UK

Tholen - This week the first 13 containers of okitsu mandarins are shipped to the UK and the Netherlands. The cooperation from the Argentine province of Misiones, CTM, expects to realise a total exports of 10K MT, of which 70% concerns okitsu mandarins. The remaining part concerns limes, lemons, oranges and other mandarin varieties.

Yesterday 3 containers of okitsus left for Rotterdam and England and Thursday and Friday another 10 containers will be shipped out. This is a month earlier than normal, but the weather has been so favourable, that the harvest could also be advanced by a month, according to CTM president Jorge Néstor. The citrus division of CTM (Cooperativa Tabacalera de Misiones) disposes of a growing acreage of 3500 hectares and is looking to expand this to 5400 hectare.
