Industry Executives Step “Out of the Box” at PMA’s Invitational Leadership Symposium

Industry leaders gathered to hear the latest perspectives and strategies for “out-of-the-box” thinking at the Produce Marketing Association’s (PMA) 2007 Invitational Leadership Symposium held in Dallas, January 18-20.
“The symposium once again proved to be an event that energized PMA members and encouraged them to take on the challenges of leading within their companies,” according to Bryan Silbermann, PMA president. “I’m particularly pleased that this year we could sharpen members’ leadership skills while also adding the unique industry insights of our long-term symposium partner and facilitator, Professor Ed McLaughlin of Cornell University as one of the speakers.”
The 2007 Leadership Symposium was presented by PMA, in partnership with The Packer and Cornell University, and featured five successful business experts who presented ideas to inspire and motivate both new and veteran produce industry leaders.
Jin Ju Wilder, Coast Produce Company president remarked, “PMA has produced an event that encourages a constant flow of questions, ideas, experiences and advice among industry leaders representing several generations and various links in the produce supply chain. It is an intense two days, but it is perfect if you are looking for an event to stimulate and generate bold ideas and actions in yourself.”
"The PMA Leadership Symposium was an innovative and interactive program that gave industry leaders an opportunity to learn effective leadership skills, connect with individuals in the produce industry and discuss the issues that we face today,” said Dole Fresh Fruit Company communications manager, Marianne Duong.
Registration for PMA’s 2008 Invitational Leadership Symposium is open. The 2008 event will take place at a new venue, The Omni Dallas Hotel at Park West, and will take place during the workweek, January 16-18, 2008, rather than over a weekend as in years past. The 2008 event will continue to focus on leadership and providing networking opportunities. More details about the 2008 Invitational Leadership Symposium, and other PMA events like the Produce Solutions Conference “Consumer Trends ‘07” in March, are available at www.pma.com.
Founded in 1949, the Produce Marketing Association is the leading trade association serving more than 2,100 companies representing all segments of the global produce and floral supply chains. Members rely on PMA year round for the business solutions they need to increase sales and consumption, build strong professional relationships and expand their business opportunities.
