Mexico exports Valencia oranges to the UK

Tholen - After a long period of negotiations, Mexican citrus growers from Álamo succeeded in getting their oranges sold in the UK. Through the local port of Tuxpan, oranges are shipped in cartons of 500 kg and subsequently they are shipped by marine transport through the port of Altamira to Southampton in the UK. The sales go through an intermediate company specialised in fresh fruit exports, where logistics and packing are taken care of, according to Ricardo Hernández Campos and Guillermo Jerónimo Reyes of the integral phytosanitary inspection service. Until present, 10K MT of citrus of different varieties has been shipped. Valencia oranges were shipped directly in containers of 24 MT.
