Developments in Varekamp Cold Stores brings the service to its clients on a higher level, now featuring RF scanning of barcodes (full traceability), full logistic service providing and expansion of cold store facilities
RF scanning of barcodes
May 2006 Varekamp Cold Stores has implemented RF scanning of barcodes (Radio Frequency) in their process. Three goals were achieved: full traceability (essential in food safety), complete and quick information supply to the client and an optimized daily operation where there is full control on pallet routes and movements. The hand-held scanners also offer the possibility to scan barcodes of the customer. This customer-linked ID will be the “key” to all info and feedback to the customer.

Expansion of cold store facilities
Q 1 in 2006 Varekamp realized an expansion of 1.300 pallet-positions, 5 compartments extra. Now Varekamp has a total amount of almost 6.000 palletpostitions, 18 docks and 19 separated compartments at its disposal (with 125 up to 400 palletplaces, from – 2 º Celsius to + 21 º Celsius, each equipped with its own independent regulation of temperature, ventilation and circulation).
Supply of information and quality & foodsafety systems
Another advantage for Varekamp customers is having more actual and reliable information with, if needed, also the "clients-id". Varekamp provides its customers daily with not only "intake-reports", "delivery-notes" and "stock-reports" but also an "overview with a status for each order" you send us. It is up to you how often and on which moment(s) of the day you want to receive these reports.
Varekamp meets the most strict requirements, for example ISO 9001:2000, HACCP and SKAL, because “quality is our first priority”.

Varekamp Cold Stores, founded in 1953, is a highly specialized company in the handling, transferring and (cold)storage of fruit, vegetables, exotics, garlic, flowerbulbs etc.
Since 2001 Varekamp is located on ABC Westland (Agri Business Centre Westland), in the centre of Westland which is a well-known production area for vegetables and flowers in the Netherlands. From Rotterdam-harbour to Varekamp Cold Stores it takes only an ½ hour by truck. At ABC business centre different exporters of vegetables and fruit, re-packers and a lot of transporters are located. Good to know is that we are in a favourable position for exporting to Germany, United Kingdom, Scandinavia, France, Austria, Switzerland and all other (East-) European countries.
Because of 19 separated compartments and total amount of 6.000 palletpostitions (with 125 up to 400 palletplaces, from – 2 º Celsius to + 21 º Celsius, each equipped with its own independent regulation of temperature, ventilation and circulation) Varekamp is able to give product optimal storage-conditions. 18 dock shelters and an expedition-area of 2.500 m2 are at our disposal, so we can take care of a quick in- and outbound.
