La Libertad exports 67% of the Peruvian artichokes

Tholen - The region La Libertad is exporting a growing number of artichokes. Between January and May, Peru transported for 11.381.144 US dollars to other countries, says ADEX (Asociación de Exportadores). This year the export may grow to 138 % of the amount of last year, from 6.005.000 to 14.271.000 US dollars.

After Libertad follows the region Ica with 2.788.782 US dollars, which is 16 % of the total amount. And Lima takes the third position with 12% of the total artichoke export. Junín, Lanbayeque, Ancash and finally Callao also participated in the production.

La Libertad offers more agricultural products, among them are many medicinal plants like Maca (a Peruvian root), kiwicha (seeds) and yacon.
