Vietnam: workshop seeks to promote fruits and veggies
Fruit and vegetable promotion was the topic of a workshop held by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the French Business Association in HCM City on Wednesday. The workshop introduced methods to transport fruit and vegetables without spoiling them and experiences from foreign businesses to promote trade in farm produce.
Viet Nam has about 755,000ha under fruit and vegetables cultivation, producing 6 million tonnes annually. About half of the output comes from the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta. The country targets to expand this acreage to 1.3 million hectares and to reach an annual output of 20 million tonnes by 2010.
