US: SUPERVALU Elects Paul Singer as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer

SUPERVALU INC. announced today the election of Paul Singer as senior vice president and Chief Information Officer to lead the company's information technology operations.

Singer joins SUPERVALU with 27 years of retail experience in IT, merchandising, and inventory and supply chain management. He served as Target Corporation's Chief Information Officer from 2000 to 2005 and was a member of its Executive Committee. While at Target Corporation, Singer was responsible for IT strategy, planning and operations. Singer will assume his new role at SUPERVALU immediately and will report to Pamela Knous, executive vice president and Chief Financial Officer.

Commenting on Singer's appointment, Knous said, "We are thrilled to have a person of Paul's stature and experience join SUPERVALU as we begin the transformation of the company into a retail powerhouse following the recent acquisition of premier retail properties of Albertsons. I am confident that Paul's business acumen, technology expertise and extensive retail experience will be invaluable as he combines the best of our existing organizations to build an industry-leading technology team that supports the strategic initiatives of the New SUPERVALU."
