Vietnam: vegetable exports find way to India, Western Europe

The Trade Ministry urged businesses to ensure food hygiene and security a bid to export more vegetables potential markets of India and the Western Europe, according to the Trade Ministry. Viet Nam is expected to earn about US$280 million from vegetable exports by the end of 2006 a year-on-year increase of 19 percent, with leading importers being China, Russia and Japan.

However, commercial experts said that the country should build trade marks for some special products, focus on fruits that have competitive edge and launch active marketing programmes. The sector was also told to apply advanced technology to produce high quality products.
