Spanish potato sector in long lasting crisis

Tholen – Although the Spanish ministry of agriculture has approved of an intervention which retires 80K MT of potatoes from the market, this does net yet offer a sufficient solution to the survival of the deep crisis in which the Spanish potato sector finds itself, according the Spanish agricultural organisation Coag. The measure will also be required to give the start of the early potato season in the next campaign a chance. Therefore the measure should be prolonged, according to Coag.
