Local Aussie growers could benefit from world citrus prize squeeze

Demand for locally grown valencia oranges could increase if early predictions about international juice prices are correct. It is thought hurricanes in Florida and disease outbreaks in Brazil will affect citrus production and increase world concentrate prices.

Nippy's managing director, Jeff Knispel, says that could help improve demand for Australian fruit. "Their crop's only got to be down by five or single digit per cent and that will have a huge impact on world prices and even if it's a little bit emotional you know what share markets are like," he said.

"If people think something's going to happen that forces the price up even if its not the reality.
